READ THE FULL MANUSCRIPT
Beta readers commit to reading the entire manuscript — not just chapters they find interesting. The work only yields useful feedback when read as a whole arc.
Beta Readers
Beta reading is not proofreading, and it is not a review. It is an act of serious reading — responding to a manuscript as a thoughtful reader before the work is final. Beta readers help the author understand where the story loses them, where it earns them, and where they wish it had done something different. This is craft work done generously, and it is taken seriously on both sides.
Beta readers commit to reading the entire manuscript — not just chapters they find interesting. The work only yields useful feedback when read as a whole arc.
A brief questionnaire guides your response — not to constrain your reaction, but to ensure that the feedback covers pace, character, tension, and payoff in a form the author can act on.
The standard beta reading window is four weeks. This gives you adequate time without extending the revision timeline. If your circumstances change, communicate early — that is all that is asked.
